Vacation Crafts for Children
at the Carousel Museum
The New England Carousel Museum
has planned a week of craft activities and movie fun for school Vacation
Week, April 13th thru the 26th. All children are welcomed to participate in
a different craft each day, while enjoying a free movie in the Museum’s
Carousel classroom. All craft activities will be held from 11:00 AM to 4:00
PM. Feel free to come and go as you please.
Sunday, April 13: Cowboy Badges. Watch Toy
Story while you create authentic marshal’s badges using gold foil;
Monday, April 14:
Flower Pots. Watch Ratatouille while you paint a
flower pot and plant a vegetable plant;
Tuesday, April 15:
Carousel. Create a carousel of dragons, pigs, bears and
donkeys and enjoy watching Shrek III;
Wednesday, April 16:
Genie –in-a -bottle. As you make this fun and creative
genie out of card board and glitter, you will enjoy watching Aladdin;
Thursday, April 17:
Cut out deer. This adorable deer antlers craft will keep you
busy while watching the classic, Bambi;
Friday, April 18:
Felt Cat. This sly felt cat will keep you busy while you
laugh your way through The Aristocrats;
Saturday, April 19:
Slinky caterpillar or painted butter flies. Insects galore
are the fun today as we view the movie, A Bug’s Life;
Sunday, April 20:
Chicken Little. Design a crafty version of Chicken Little and
watch the movie, too;
Monday, April 21:
Dumbo. 11am-1pm create a pretty carousel of circus animals.
Dumbo is this mornings’ movie;
Secret Garden. 1pm-4pm Paint pretty ceramic flowers as you
watch the must see movie, Secret Garden;
Tuesday, April 22:
Ceramic painting. We will paint wooden roosters while our
special story teller tells of the rooster who wouldn’t crow;
Wednesday, April 23:
Ceramic or wooden roosters. E.T. will be our movie
and Painting ceramics will be our special project;
Thursday, April 24:
Peter Pan. 11 am-1pm, make fairy crowns out of ribbons and
flowers. This craft will keep you busy all morning;
Night at the Museum. 1pm-4pm, create hand-crafted fire hats and
gold badges during this fun and interesting movie;
Friday, April 25:
Accordion Book. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
will inspire you to create an accordion book filled with fun stickers
and stamps;
Saturday, April 26:
Bumble Bees. Get ready for Spring and create your very own
bumble bee trinket with paint and glitter. Watch Bee Movie
for lots of inspiration!
The
fee for a craft and a tour of the Carousel Museum, the Museum of Fire
History and the Fine Art Galleries is $5.00 per child. Reservations are
preferred by calling 860-585-5411, although walk-ins will be welcomed.
Museum hours for Vacation Week are Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 5:00
PM.
The
Bristol Center for Arts & Culture is located at The New England Carousel
Museum, 95 Riverside Avenue, RT 72 W, in Bristol, Connecticut 06010. The
building is available to rent for receptions, weddings, meetings and
classes. The Museum provides tours, tour and craft programs, birthday
parties for children of all ages, youth group sleepovers and educational
outreach programs. The Museum is special needs accessible.
