School and Youth Group Programs

Education at The New England Carousel Museum encourages students to examine the rich, interdisciplinary, art, history, and culture of the carousel. In our interactive programs, designed to meet Common Core standards, students discover the significance behind one of America's favorite amusements and important art forms.

Interactive Tour & Ride

Your experience at the Museum begins with a one-hour interactive tour. Students will explore the history, art, and mechanics of the carousel or ask us about customizing a tour based on a specific theme. Our guides will adapt the tour to your groups' specific needs. Finish with a ride on our carousel!  $3.50/ student

A question and answer session with our carousel restoration artists.  $50.00/ 30 minutes

Bristol Collects Carousel Pieces

Grades 1-3, maximum 60 students or two classes, 2 hours

Come learn about your local museum! The Carousel Museum has been established in Bristol for 22 years. On this field trip, your students will learn about how this local museum collects and exhibits antique carousel pieces. A ride on our most fun collection object, our working carousel, rounds out the day.  $5.50/ student

The Shape of a Horse

Grades Preschool - Kindergarten, maximum 30 students

Carousel horses are decorated with all sorts of shapes. In this field trip program, students will explore what makes each shape special and how shapes are combined to make carousel horses fanciful and fun. A ride on the carousel makes the learning come alive!  $5.50/ student
