Juan
Andreu, Master Carver
Juan
Andreu holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Valencia,
School of Fine Arts, in Spain, where he specialized in classic sculpture
in wood, bronze and stone mediums. He has also studied architectural
design, painting and restoration and is presently a doctoral candidate
in the area of Fine Arts. Juan is a Professor of Art at Quinnipiac
University in Hamden, Connecticut and at the Talcott Mountain Science Center
in Avon, Connecticut. He has also taught art at Silvermine Art Association
and the Farmington Valley Arts Center.
Juan
has worked as an industrial, interior and architectural designer for the
last 25 years, alternating with public commissions and teaching.
He has assisted world-renowned artists such as Anthony Quinn, Elbert Weinberg,
Wolfgang Behl, Luis Montoya and Manolo Valdes. His work and accomplishments
have been publicized on television and featured in local and national newspapers
as notable as the New York Times, the Hartford Courant, the Times Picayune,
the New Haven Register and the Waterbury Republican. His artwork
is housed in public, private and Museum collections around the world.
He regularly shows his paintings and sculptures.
The
artist studio of Juan Andreu is located in the New England Carousel Museum.
It is opened to the public by appointment.
